2015-2016 Team Awards
At the conclusion of the 2015 - 2016 season, the team took some time to digress from the outstanding year by voting on team awards. The awards that were up for grabs were the MVP (Most Valuable Player), Cy Young (Pitcher of the year), Rookie of the Year (self explanatory), and Most Improved (I know you get it).
The guy who took home the grand prize, MVP, was none other then our very own Jedi Master, Shane McMurtry (pictured right). Shane led the team in Batting Average, Home Runs, RBIs, and Hits while manning the hot corner.
The next guy who took home some imaginary hardware stole the show with obtaining not one, but two awards. Mike "Miguel" Dunlap joined the squad as the guy who was counted on when we were up by 15 runs so we did not have to use any good pitching. Some where he figured out how to throw a fastball which propelled him to winning the Cy Young Award leading the team in innings pitched, ERA, and strikeouts.
Not only was he voted the top pitcher, but he was voted the rookie of the year. He was by far the oldest rookie, which many argued as an unfair advantage, but Mike performed decently enough to secure this distinguished award. Well deserved Mike, we are all proud.
Last, but not least, is the Most Improved Player Award. This award was given to Mr. Tanner Witter (pictured right). Usually mistaken as a Corgi, Tanner found a way to hit the ball over the right field fence a few times, rather than the traditional 3-Unassisted putout. Tanner put up an impressive .381 batting average with 2 bombs. Tanner joins the likes of other PSBC favorites Joe Picard and Nate Harris as winners of this award. We are truly are all praying for you Tanner.
